I felt led to publish this here, a word on my heart originally recorded May 3rd 2016. Be blessed.
A word on my heart for the past week or so is the word handicap. Sometimes as Christians we allow our comforts to become crutches. (Remember the days some of us couldn't go to an event without a friend to tag along, for example?)
Now I'm not saying having support from friends as you go about your endeavours is wrong, prayerfully we have supportive friends around us, however, we must grow to a place where we can confidently stand in our calling without the approval of man.
As a body we need one another and no man is an island, but as individuals we need to be able to move forward with our God given tasks and stand on His word even when it feels like we stand alone. No one can walk out your purpose for you. No one will be held to account for your assignments but you.
A lot of the time, when we cry out for support what we really want is the comfort of validation because we are either afraid or full of doubt, or we seek promotion because we want to bypass God's process.
If God has called you, He will affirm, confirm and validate you over and over. He will promote you and bring helpers in due time. In the meantime learn to be faithful in what He is asking of you and don't change your message or who you are to please people.
If God is not promoting you, it is because He is developing and strengthening your foundation. He's teaching you how to do things His way and not according to your own understanding. He's asking for 100% of your heart so when promotion and success does come it doesn't draw you away from Him. No need to stress. He's building you to stand the test of time and that's necessary no matter how uncomfortable it may feel.
Please be encouraged; do not handicap yourself spiritually. People cannot become a crutch to you. Stand and walk boldly, whether it's a business venture or ministry. You run with it first and people *to whom you are sent* will eventually catch on. You be faithful in it first and God will trust you with more. Place your confidence in the One who called you, for He shall keep you. Let Him hold you up.
Let's change our perspective to a higher one, we cannot grow in comfortable places.
2 Peter 1:10 - So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. (nlt)
How do we support one another as a body? We each get into our God-given position and do our job well!!
If my ankle wants to be my eye how will the weight of my body be supported? How will I walk? How can my body function correctly unless my ankle takes it's rightful place in my body?
May we learn to support one another in finding our place and what we are called to do, killing competition and envy that keeps us from supporting in practical ways.
Ephesians 4:16 - He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.
